Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Choose an evening start time and meet your creepy guide in central Edinburgh for a journey through the city’s gruesome history. Board the vintage double-decker ghost bus, grab a seat in the shadowy upper or lower deck, and peer out the window as you travel the dimming city streets.

As you ride, allow your conductor’s chilling tales to transport you to the dark side. Hear about Edinburgh’s famous executions, murders, misdeeds, and most sinister characters. Rile at the stories of Burke and Hare, notorious gravediggers who made a killing off cadaver sales to medical schools in the 19th century, and the incensed witch hunts of the 16th and 17th centuries.

Pass the city’s most haunted sites and infamous landmarks like Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and Greyfriars Kirk, plagued by the wandering souls of restless spirits. Visit Grassmarket and discover its bloody history as the execution site of many famous traitors and disrupters, including the unfortunate 'half-hangit' Maggie Dickson. Be sure to ask your guide about this story!

By the end, you have an intimate understanding of Edinburgh’s sinister side. Your tour leaves you in Edinburgh Old Town with time to warm your chilled soul at a local pub.

Such a funny yet spooky tour went in July with my boyfriend and came back with claw marks on my back. For some people this may be frightening but to me it made me more inclined and excited to go back. Went again in the January and again we caught some spooky photos as much as there is some part from the cast to make it spooky this definitely is real! and Timmy terror couldn’t have been a better host! 10 all around. Would definitely come back for a 3rd time!

We did the experience at night but it would be equally fun in the daytime and allow you a better viewing of the sights. Kids loved it. Aged 11,13,15.

the two guys who loaded...

the two guys who loaded us onto the bus were helpful and friendly. The tour guide provided humour and kept everybody in check. Unfortunately my partner and i did not like how cramped the bus was, we assumed that we would have a separation gap. There were no covid rules or regulations which made us feel uncomfortable. We were told our masks could be "lowered" which led to everybody having their mask off. We feel that should not of happened as we were ridiculously close to one another. We accept that tours need to provide humour and it was enjoyable but we found that there was not a huge amount of historical matter within the tour itself rather the story being focused on the bus and humorous jokes. We thought by reading the description it would enlighten us to the gory, scary side of edinburgh town which it did not.
